DOUG CARLSTON is CEO of Tawaia Systems, an Internet technology company he co-founded in 2005. Previously, he co-founded Broderbund Software, one of the world's leading publishers of productivity and educational software, and served as CEO (1991-1996) and Chairman of the Board (1981-1998).
Carlston currently serves on the boards of the AH Belo Corporation, the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund, the Ploughshares Fund, the Tides Advocacy Fund, MoveOn PAC, and The Long Now Foundation. He is a member of the NOVA Science Visiting Council, the Committee on University Resources of Harvard University and the Board of Advisors of Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
He is the author of five published books, from Software People to Beginning Swahili. He has also had many published software products and written articles, including "Storing Knowledge", in Time & Bits: Managing Digital Continuity.
