NICOLAS BAUMARD is a research scientist in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at the École Normale Supérieure, in Paris. His work is inspired by contractualist theories and based on the idea that fairness is an adaptation for social interactions. In particular, he has shown that in an environment where individuals can choose their partners, fairness is the best strategy to be recruited in social interactions.
