ADAM BLY is a scientist and entrepreneur who has spent the past fifteen years innovating at the nexus of science and society. He is currently head of advanced analytics at Spotify. Previously, he founded and was CEO of Seed Scientific, the advanced analytics and data innovation firm, which was acquired by Spotify in June 2015.
He frequently speaks about scientific thinking and data innovation to business and government leaders around the world, including at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations, MIT, Harvard Graduate School of Design and Kennedy School of Government, The Museum of Modern Art, SXSW, The Royal Society, NASA, The National Academy of Sciences, and the U.S. State Department and House of Representatives.
Adam was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (and has served on the Forum’s Global Agenda Councils on Complex Systems, Design Innovation, and Data-Driven Development), was a Visiting Senior Fellow in Science, Technology & Society at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal. Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien highlighted his dedication to “showing people the scope and power of science not just as an object of study but as key to understanding the world around us.”
Prior to founding Seed Scientific, Adam founded and served as editor-in-chief of Seed, a print and online magazine with a mission of modernizing science’s place in society (published from 2001 to 2012). He is the editor of Science is Culture: Conversations at the New Intersection of Science + Society.
